I mean—Quarantini, anyone?

As a mom you always try to plan ahead and prepare for any possible scenario.  If you’ve ever peeked inside my snack drawer, you would see that I consistently maintain a five-star rating in the emergency snack preparedness category. Paper towels as well—I rate very high in that category.  But did anyone foresee the mysterious disappearance of toilet paper ending up in riots at Costco, or did we brush up on common core math or the American Revolution? Moms are absolute superheroes right now and in case you didn’t know where I was going with this when you started reading this post, I’ll declare it aloud:

YOU DESEVE WINE, Because, I know I do.

YOU DESERVE WINE!

YOU DESERVE WINE!

I was taken by surprise by this Corona virus, as most of us were. Let me stop for a minute, and just say that I sincerely pray that you and your family you are well. If you are working in medical and on the front lines of this fight, I absolutely raise my glass to you, thank you for fighting your fight so my family can be safe. Us? Well, we are in the thick of it here in New Jersey, and we are fortunate to all be well in my house. I am enjoying my mask that says, “I love wine” and watching my son attempt juggling. Yes, I’m a full-time teacher. And lunch lady and all of the other things. . . I stop at wearing a plastic cap while dishing out lunch.

Since we’ve settled in, I have been frequently asked about good value wines. Firstly, without browsing the aisles of the wine store, this is a big ask. For those of you who can buy in a supermarket, I am super jelly! Locally, we have to order ahead. SOOOOOO, it’s a bit of a struggle.  I have actually been buying wine directly from the wineries. (shout out to all my friends at: Cristom, Ken Wright, R. Stuart, Euclid. . .)

My message is the same as always: drink what you like. Wine is meant to be enjoyed, especially, now. Raise a glass to your parenting, educating and survival skills. I do miss my wine events which feel so luxurious and exotic now. The last wine event I attended was two months ago!  I had started writing a post about it and got sidetracked by the current events of Corona and the sudden overwhelming amount of time I was spending with my blessed children(!) Which basically translates to: I got nothing done! More on that event in this blog!

I just wanted to check in and say, I’m still alive!

For all my friends who have been asking what to drink? I leave you with a small list of good wines to look out for!

Best box wine:  Bridge Lane (Long Island, NY) https://www.bridgelanewine.com

Order directly from wineries!!!

I love Oregon, California, and Washington State. There are so many ways to support smaller wineries.

Personally, I love Gramercy Cellars in Washington State

Oregon: The world is your oyster…  Cristom, Ken Wright Cellars, Patricia Green, Adelsheim, Bergstrom, Beaux Freres, Big Table Farm, Failla, Gran Moraine, Drouhin, R. Stuart, and Harper Voit. Bubbly from R. Stuart is one of my fav’s!

Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers out there and remember whatever you are drinking.. ENJOY! You deserve it!
