I’m a mother. THIS does not define who I am, but it was the start to my journey into studying wine. Although my friends joke “Who needs to study wine? Just drink it!”
My kids are perplexed. My youngest literally giggles when I tell him I am “studying”. Did I say giggle? I mean, a belt out loud LAUGH! The kids like the wine store trips, especially my son. He is three and he likes to attempt to rearrange the bottles; my girls like the dog and running laps around the store.
When my son was born, I realized I really loved wine! Probably why he giggles when I tell him I’m studying. On a whim I started taking some WSET classes (Wine Spirits Education Training), mainly to use the brain I knew once existed. Three Kids, enough said. At the moment it’s a miracle I have passed enough to qualify for the diploma program to which I am currently enrolled.
I can NEVER study. It’s painful! I will pull a book out and a kid cries or gets up, or needs water, or needs something or someone. I try. Just for the record, kids never need anything until you sit down and try to do something. They have sensors. It goes off the moment you sit down. That’s why I eat standing up, it just makes sense.
I like people, I love to cook and have dinner parties and they are a constant staple in our house. Over time my friends have begun pestering me to pick wines for them, or call me from wine stores and restaurants for advice.
So I decided, “Lets start a blog.” Life is a journey, a lesson, a study, while loving my kids and also enjoying wine.
**As a disclaimer, I am not advocating drinking wine as a solution to parenting, but merely a satirical journey that involves my wine studies and parenting.**
